I was on a casual walk, on my way home when I saw a turn-off which seemed to be a short-cut home.
I decided to take it. Merely 50 steps down the road, I realised it was going to be a little longer.
Sometimes when that happens (smile) I would normally just say to the Lord: "Lord this is going to give me a little extra time, and I give myself over to Your leading, to use me to pray for the people living here."
So I just walked on and prayed as I felt the Lord laid on my heart for each house that I was passing.
Ohhh, you can think of the shock I got when I passed one particular home and the Lord prompted me to pray for some specific things for the people in there - and added to that, He prompted me to go and knock on the door and tell them I am praying for them and for those specific things. I thought I'd just continue ... but the Holy Spirit convicted me in a gentle manner to turn around.
What a surprise I got when the owner of that house turned out to be the director of a Christian mobile library service. It was wonderful to bring encouragement to a family-member-in-God.
And so I went along just rejoicing in the Lord about how He brings us to intercede for others while at the same time He works in our own hearts.
May this prayerwalk inspire you to pray for others and to bring the life and hope of Christ to the many in need.
True stories from prayer-walks and pilgrimages where the dust of the road meets the grace of God. From the forgotten paths of the Karoo to the ruins of Ghana, these are testimonies of divine whispers, unexpected provision, and gentle encounters that remind us every step is a prayer and every journey is led by Him. Step by step, footprint by footprint.
